What Is the My Girl Couple Trend?

The TikTok hand-over-the-lens couple reveal: who started it, the sound it uses, how it works second by second, and how to make an AI version from your photos.

Last updated: 2026-10-25

The My Girl couple trend is a TikTok video where the person filming holds a hand flat in front of the lens, covering the eyes of the people in the shot. Behind the hand they stand close and mouth along to the sound for about 7 seconds; on the drop the hand pulls away and they’re revealed, leaning together and smiling at the camera. The AI version makes the same shot from your own photos: My Girl Couple AI turns one or two photos into a vertical video of the trend with the original sound already on it.

The three clips above are TikTok versions by the creators credited under each one. None of them was made on this site.

Where the My Girl Couple Trend Started

The version people copy, and the sound they use, come from a TikTok post by @woody_cria (display name “woody cria”), captioned “My girl ❤️” and posted on October 21, 2026. In the 10-second clip, two people dressed as Woody and Bo Peep from Toy Story do the hand reveal. By October 24, 2026, the post had about 5.1 million views, 452,900 likes, 2,363 comments and 50,500 reposts. You can watch the first post on TikTok.

Within three days people were remaking it with their partners, their best friends, as a bride and groom, as a parent and child, or on their own (on this site it’s adults and pets only: photos of minors aren’t allowed). On October 22 and 23, tutorial posts started pointing people to a CapCut template for an AI version, captioned “my girl original couple trend”, “my girl couple trend tutorial” and “my girl couple trend capcut” (see this tutorial by @lynn448432 and this one by @auroramist99). The hashtags you’ll see on them are #mygirlcoupletrend and #mygirloriginalcoupletrend.

The Sound: “som original – woody cria”

TikTok lists the trend’s sound as “som original – woody cria”, the creator’s own 10-second upload. “Som original” is Portuguese for “original sound”. TikTok shows it as an original sound rather than a named track, so if you’re looking for the “My Girl trend song”, that name is the one to search for. The versions on TikTok use this sound.

How the Trend Works, Second by Second

  • From the start to about 7 seconds: a flat hand covers the eyes of the people in the shot. Below it you can see them standing close and mouthing along to the sound.
  • At about 7 seconds, on the drop: the hand pulls away from the lens.
  • The reveal, to the end at 10 seconds: they’re leaning together, smiling at the camera.

The whole joke is the timing: a few seconds of half-hidden faces, then a clean reveal right on the beat. On this site, the solo version ends with one person tilting their head with a smile and a little wink.

Why It Caught On

It’s simple to film and easy to read at a glance: a hand, a sound and a reveal. It also works for almost anyone you’d want to show off, which is why it spread from couples to best friends, newlyweds and solo posts within days.

What the AI Version Takes from the Trend, and What Comes from Your Photos

From the trend:

  • the flat hand over the lens, covering the eyes
  • the mouthing along behind the hand
  • the reveal on the drop: the two of you leaning together and smiling (solo: a head tilt, a smile and a little wink)
  • the original 10-second sound, cut to the length you pick
  • the vertical 9:16 framing

From your photos:

  • who is in it: photo 1 on the left as you watch, photo 2 on the right
  • each one can be a person or a pet
  • the faces and look of the people (or pets) in your photos

The clip is made by the AI model Seedance 2.0 Mini (ByteDance) from your photos and a written, second-by-second description of the trend’s shot. It doesn’t copy or edit the original TikTok: the hand, the room and the moves are generated fresh each time. The background is a simple bright room that can vary, and sometimes your photo’s own background shows through. Results vary between renders.

Make Your Own My Girl Couple Trend Video

Go to the generator on the homepage, continue with Google, add one or two photos, pick 6 or 10 seconds and press make. A 10-second video uses 10 credits and a 6-second one uses 6. You get a 720p vertical MP4 with no watermark and the sound already on it, plus a button to share it to TikTok. For photo tips, which length to pick and how to post it, read how to do the My Girl couple trend.
